CAU is a member of the Atlanta University Center, a consortium of educationalinstitutions that includes Spelman College and Morehouse College. Clark Atlanta University came into existence with the 1988 merger of two historicallyAfrican-American colleges founded in the 1860s -- Clark College and Atlanta University.
